VYT produces three musicals every summer, a Junior show for children currently enrolled in grades 4 through 8, a Senior show for children currently enrolled in grades 9 through 12, and PeeWee VYT, for children currently enrolled in Kindergarten through grade 3. Auditions for the 2012 summer's productions were held on February 11 and February 19 for the Senior Show and February 18 for the Junior and PeeWee Shows. Callbacks for the Senior and Junior shows will be held on February 25th.
The season kick-off meeting and first rehearsal will be held on on Saturday March 3rd. Rehearsals will continue Saturday mornings through the end of the school year when they increase to 3 to 4 rehearsals per week during the summer break. Rehearsal schedules will be posted soon.
Every child who auditions for a VYT show is cast in a production.
Tuition is $80 per child for PeeWee VYT, $125 for the Junior Production, and $150 for the Senior production. If you have more than one child participating there is a discount of $10.00 for each additional child. (e.g. for 2 children in the Junior show - total tuition is $240) Your tuition includes the script (and a CD if applicable), costumes your child will wear for the production, and a show T-shirt.
We welcome current students, VYT alumni, and adults who are interested in participating in the orchestra.
A parent information/registration meeting will be held on Saturday March 3rd at the Northridge High School Theatre, our summer show venue. More information and registration forms will be posted on the website. Questions may be sent via email to vandaliayouththeatre@yahoo.com, or fill out the form and/or request to be added to our mailing list by clicking on the "contact us" link.
Actors are expected to attend all rehearsals. When making the decision to participate in our program please be mindful of our schedule and the importance of rehearsals. Please note that two unexcused absences may result in the forfeiture of your child's role. Click here to read the conflicts/attendance policy.
Theatre is a big commitment of time and energy. Each rehearsal builds on the next, so if one is missed, there will not be a "make-up" session. Make sure you review the rehearsal and performance schedules in advance. Watch for conflicts with sports, school activities, vacations, birthday parties and other activities. If there are conflicts, discuss with your child and Directors in advance of signing up. Help your child decide which activities are priorities to him/her. Also, pay close attention to the "mandatory" rehearsal dates.

Yes!!!! Many Parents (and grandparents) have found their true calling working behind the scenes. Please fill out your areas of interest on the Volunteer page (click here) OR print and fill out the Volunteer Form and give it to any Board member at rehearsal. Also, we may ask you to help with your child's costume, but we give you lots of help and instructions.
